I logged roughly 160 hours interviewing our production director Denis
Reidy for this bio. (He held me captive in his office trying to make
sure I did him justice.) Reviewing my 90 pages of notes, I see this will
be an impossibility. I'd need an entire book for Denis.
I can tell you he's a NY native and proud of his Irish heritage. He's
been in radio for 34 years, and worked at some legendary radio stations
including 99X New York, WSGA Savannah Ga.WRNL Richmond and WCMS when it
was country. He loves the opportunity radio gives him to connect with
people who otherwise might not have anyone else to talk to. Denis has
many claims to fame, one of them being he was the first contestant on
the 10,000 dollar Pyramid! (It was rigged! He actually WON that first
round.) He was also at the famous Peter Frampton "LIVE!" concert. In a
prescient moment Denis told his date, "You never know. He could be big
someday."
Denis is strung a little tighter than your average DJ. That results in
refreshing radio. When Denis is on the air, believe me, you won't be
hearing the same old thing. You may hear some free association, you may
hear about enrollment at a new Roman Gladiator School, or you may get
the meaning of life. (Denis says it's a Bran Muffin.) The man is
creative. Don't be surprised if you see him on the big screen someday-
he's interested in the acting process.
Denis is deep down, to the CORE nice and has a sensitive side he doesn't
want you to know about. 12 years ago he met a good woman named Donna and
she's been a good influence on him. He gets the rest of his smile from
talking to his kids in Florida, Sharese and Elias Reidy. Elias is lead
guitarist for the rock band "Red Jumpsuit Apparatus". Denis has 2
grandchildren Kaden and Kaylee and his daughter Sharese will embark on
her music career once they've grown up a bit.
One of the things I love most about Denis is that he spends the majority
of his day trying to make me laugh. He loves making people laugh and
that makes working with him FUN. Thanks D.
